What is Industry Outreach Centre?

India's ambitious target of achieving net zero by 2070 is a significant challenge due to its vast size and diversity. The task demands not only a massive mobilization of human capital but also presents substantial opportunities for job creation and economic activity. Addressing this challenge, Industry Outreach Centre aim to bridge the gap between the competencies needed for this lofty goal and the current engineering education curricula. The objective is to mould young professionals who are not only aware and conscious but also competent to tackle the sustainability challenges ahead. IOC  will work in coordination with other projects / initiatives of SEEM like the Decarbonization India Alliance (DIA), The National Award and Energy Conclave functions, SEEM magazine – ‘energy manager’ etc. so that the students and faculty get exposed to latest developments in the fields of sustainability, energy efficiency as well as engineering in general.

Objectives of SEEM IOC

The major objectives for which the parties associate with each other are as follows:

1. Setting up an Energy Audit Cell: Establishing an energy audit cell to offer services to neighbourhood SMEs
2. Energy Conferences and Exhibition: Proposing energy conferences and exhibition at [Location/college]3. Facilitating Knowledge Sharing: Effectively sharing facilities and expertise to improve capabilities for advanced education and research
4. Knowledge Exchange: Collaborating to share and exchange knowledge and expertise between both parties
5. Student Opportunities: Providing opportunities for undergraduate students from research scholars at [Institution Name] to take up energy projects

Participating in energy audits undertaken by energy audit cells and gain experience.

Getting Exposure to/internship opportunities with SEEM databank.

Installation of an IOC in the College

a. Upon nomination from the State Chapters
b. Colleges can initiate an application process by state chapters and chapters will evaluate the eligibility and can nominate to HQ
c. Application form and other documents to be submitted for scrutiny.
d. The selection process entails a review of applications from colleges by a State/National Level committee, and the selected colleges will be formally notified with subsequent proceedings.
e. State chapter will assign a Director/Mentor for further action
f. Director, IOC will discuss with college authorities and finalise the date for MOU signing and Inauguration.

How does the Centre function?

a. Quarterly Chapter Meetings in the College to plan activities / guidance required / queries/ subject discussions
b. SEEM Mentor answers the queries posted in advance by the students through Skype / in person / over phone during the chapter meeting
c. Faculty -in Charge approves and sends in the quarterly reports (including photographs) prepared by the Student Secretary
d. SEEM Mentor / Representative and the Faculty – in – Charge schedules the Program Calendar for the Year and  conducts Training / Industry Exposure Programs / Internship Programs according to the schedule
e. The Chapter can invite the SEEM Mentor/other expert for a online session twice a year at no additional fee.
f. More Technical Sessions by Experts on specific topics can be arranged upon request by the chapter and meeting the program expenses.
